| Claresholm Agriplex - NEW FACILITY UPDATE |
 The majority of the events held at the Claresholm Agriplex are held during the weekend. During the week – especially during the winter months; individual riders fill the Arena working with their horses. We the WCAS Board of Directors have defined the need for a second indoor equine facility and a new barn to compliment the existing programs we are currently able to offer at the Claresholm Agriplex.REPORT ON MAJOR COMMUNITIES ENHANCEMENT GRANT The Major Communities Enhancement Grant IX was established to assist in fostering the unique characteristics of Alberta’s many communities. The program is intended to reinvest revenues generated from provincial lotteries in communities, to empower local citizens, and community organizations to work together and respond to local needs. To accomplish this, the program has been designed to respond to major local facility enhancement needs and to work in partnership with community groups and volunteers. We have received $500,000 from this grant and have started building our 2nd indoor equine facility. The WCAS have committed approximately $600,000 from our budget as well. As of March 2011 the projected costs of the project increased substantially and we have applied for another grant through the Alberta Lottery Fund. We have applied for an additional $400,000 through the Community Facility Enhancement Program. We have also committed another $310,000 from our operating budget to complete this project. |
