Located at Claresholm, Alberta, the Claresholm Agriplex is a
southern Alberta equine facility hosting events year-round and weekday community usage. Through our activities, our purpose is to increase the opportunities in the equine industry, promote the agricultural community and preserve our western heritage.

Our History

The Willow Creek Agricultural Society began in 1953 and from the beginning, a sport equine facility was developed including an arena, race track, bucking chutes and grandstands. In 1975 the facility relocated to its current location, with the original location being developed into residences.

The grand opening of the Claresholm Agriplex on June 27, 1977 marked the building of the first equine indoor arena in rural southern Alberta. With the growing equine industry in the province occurring at this time, the construction of this building proved to be a valuable resource for the community and established Claresholm as one of the hubs of equine activity in the province. Since then the facility has continually improved and evolved for the industry, with the most recent milestone being the opening of a second indoor building in 2020.

From it origins in 1953, the Claresholm Agriplex has evolved into the facility we know today through the vision and determination of numerous volunteers and staff. We appreciate all of these contributions over the years.
